Kosmos murder case postponed again
The bail application hearing of Paul Prinsloo (62) who allegedly shot and killed his wife and stepdaughter in Kosmos, Hartbeespoort in November 2023, was again postponed in the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
After the state and Prinsloo’s legal team last week indicated that they had finished questioning Nico Pienaar, a witness to the murders, Magistrate Reagan Rosenburg on Thursday further questioned Pienaar about a visit to Prinsloo in jail in January.
Pienaar was present when Prinsloo allegedly shot and killed his wife Magdaleen (58) and stepdaughter Ruzanne (31) on 27 November 2023 at their house in Kosmos following heated arguments between the three people. Ruzanne’s six-year-old daughter was also present at the time of the murders.
Pienaar testified that he accompanied the little girl’s father to Kgosi Mampuru detention centre to visit Prinsloo. Rosenberg wanted to know if he had permission from the police investigating officer. Pienaar told the court that he was unaware he needed permission to visit Prinsloo. Rosenberg ordered that a representative of correctional services be called before the court to testify about visit protocols.
The hearing will continue on 13 August.
