Lehlogonolo Machaba (25) from Letlhabile is once again in the top 30 for the Miss South Africa title. This is the second year in a row that she is competing for the coveted title.
Machaba made history in 2021 when she was the first transgender woman to enter Miss South Africa.
She is a fashion model, has a National Diploma in Fashion from the Tshwane University of Technology, and is a passionate LGBTQI activist. She describes herself as a black transwoman who enjoys being her most authentic self and who is passionate about advocating for the true definition of authenticity and practising it.
Announcing her spot in the top 30, she wrote on Twitter “I’m living through what was already written for me before I was formed and appointed to be what I am today, words cannot describe how I’m grateful at this moment to represent everyone who is marginalised against. Being in the Miss SA top 30 is not just an achievement but a change.”
