A police officer was shot when he was attacked by a group of men after an alleged altercation with his tenant.
A man was arrested after a group of men attacked a police officer at his home in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, earlier this month.
Constable Unathi Lindiso from the Reiger Park police was attacked and shot by eight men at his home in Phako Street on June 4.
According to the Vosloorus police spokesperson Constable Nompumelelo Nhlapo, the officer allegedly had an altercation with his tenant before the incident.
“Thereafter, the tenant called his brother who came with his friends to attack Lindiso, who was not on duty at the time. After the attack, the group of men came with the officer to the Vosloorus Police Station to report what had transpired.
“One of the men confessed that he had shot the officer and was then arrested for attempted murder. The officer and one of the other men were badly injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
“Two guns were confiscated – one from the police officer and the other from the man who was arrested,” said Nhlapo.
