A 27-year-old father-to-be was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Beethhoven Road on Saturday.

David Mkorwane, an employee of The Mountain Cambridge School was hit by a car shortly after 18:00. The car drove away without stopping. David sustained severe injuries and died on the scene.
Traffic was backed up for hours as police finished their forensic investigations on the scene.
People who knew David expressed their shock at his untimely death this week.
The Mountain Cambridge School said it was with the deepest regret and absolute sadness as well as shock that they learned that David had died in a hit-and-run on Saturday. David was a night watchman at the school. “David served our school for the past three years with dedication and commitment.Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, especially with his girlfriend Bongi and Sia, his cousin,” the school said.
“David touched the lives of everyone who crossed his path. He tackled every task, and his life in general with gusto, enthusiasm and passion. Always ready with a smile and eyes filled with mirth and laughter, David’s light-hearted attitude brought joy to so many. His passing is felt by many who knew him,” said a friend, Marlene McKay.
Beethoven Road has become known as the road of death among pedestrians who walk along the road daily. Many pedestrians have been killed on this busy road in recent years as a result of speeding and reckless driving.
