A 26-year-old man drowned in Hartbeespoort Dam on Christmas Day.

The man, from Krugersdorp, came to visit his father who stays in the area. They went on a boat trip on the Dam when the man jumped from the boat and disappeared underneath the water.

According to a statement from the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) police divers were called to the scene but could only find his life jacket.

The man’s body was found on Thursday.

The man’s family are too traumatised to speak to the media at this stage.
