A businessman was robbed of a large amount of cash at gunpoint inside a bank in Hartbeespoort on Tuesday afternoon.
The businessman entered FNB Bank at Village Mall around 12:30 to deposit a large amount of cash. According to police spokesperson Captain Aafje Botma, three men entered the bank soon after and one suspect pulled out a firearm and walked straight up to the man, cocking the firearm.
“The other two suspects also produced pistols and pointed them at the victim. They instructed him to lie on the ground. They grabbed the bag with money and ran out of the bank,” she said. They fled in a light blue Toyota Corolla. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
The Hartbeespoort police are investigating an armed robbery case.
Kormorant has asked FNB what security measures it has in place to prevent such incidents and who is liable for the money stolen on its premises. We have not received a response by the time of going to press.
