A missing Pretoria man’s bloodstained vehicle was found at a shopping centre near Brits on Wednesday.
Louis de Villiers’ (35) blue Isuzu bakkie was found at the Letlhabile Mall late Wednesday afternoon. According to his mother, Nicolene de Villiers, police told her blood stains were found in the vehicle. His wallet, cellphone and tools were also still in the bakkie.
“According to surveillance footage at our home in Monument Park, Louis left the house at 11:00. I tried to phone him at 12:30, but his phone just rang. By 16:00 we were worried, and we used an application to trace the phone’s whereabouts and found it at the mall. The bakkie arrived at the mall at 12:00,” his mother told Kormorant.
She alerted the Brits police and the bakkie was found late on Wednesday afternoon.
‘Louis knows no-one in Brits and had no reason to be in the area. We are afraid that he might have been kidnapped.”
She said family members have been to the mall to watch security footage. “A man wearing a small black moon bag got out of the bakkie at the mall. Louis did not have such a bag,” Nicolene said.
“I don’t know if my son was thrown out of the bakkie and is maybe lying somewhere. I just want my son back.”
At the time of his disappearance, Louis was wearing jeans and a greenish shirt.
Anyone who has seen anything or know something about the incident, or where Louis is, is requested to urgently contact the police or family. Contact the Brooklyn police on 012 366 1700, or the family on 072 607 8598 or 082 770 6070.
Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh confirmed the incident and said Letlhabile police is currently waiting for the Brooklyn police, where a missing person’s case was opened, to conduct an investigation of the vehicle.
