A woman alleged that she was raped on countless occasions by a 17-year-old family member since April this year.
A 17-year-old who allegedly raped his aunt was granted free bail earlier this week. The aunt opened a case of rape against her nephew, who allegedly raped her numerous times.
The teenager was arrested in Molapomogale near Vaalbank, Mpumalanga, on September 22.
According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the 54-year-old woman broke her silence after five months.
“The aunt alleged that he raped her on the numerous occasions from April until early September. It is further alleged that the victim warned him multiple times to stop his abuse, but the plea reportedly fell on deaf ears. She reported the matter to the police and the case was assigned to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit,” Mohlala said.
The teenager appeared in the Mbibana Magistrate’s Court on September 23. The case was postponed and he was remanded in custody until to September 26 when he appeared again and was granted bail.
The case has been postponed to October 4.
