The North West Premier, Prof Tebogo Job Mokgoro, on Thursday instructed all municipalities and provincial government departments to submit reports of all procurement of COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as medical supplies, to his office today, Friday, 7 August 2020.
According to Vuyisile Ngesi, spokesperson for the Premier, municipalities must supply the list of Covid-19 tenders to the provincial Department of Cooperative Government today to be submitted to the Premier.
“Premier Mokgoro took the decision in response to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s pronouncement on government’s efforts to root out and deal with alleged corruption in the procurement of COVID-19 PPE and medical supplies. Premier Mokgoro has further committed the North West Provincial Government to fully cooperate with the cabinet committee announced by the President to deal with the alleged corruption of PPE. Upon receiving all the reports, the Premier will also submit a consolidated Provincial Report on COVID-19 procurement to the cabinet committee before end of business today.”
“The Premier has also called on the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) to investigate all the procurement of COVID-19 PPE and medical supplies in the North West so that all those who will be found responsible can be brought to book.
