The Madibeng municipal offices in Schoemansville is in a mess and has been for the past three months and despite a reported visit from a municipal leadership team, it seems nothing has been done to improve the conditions.

Water has been leaking from the roof, presumably from water pipes, for approximately six months, causing the visitors to walk through puddles and water streaming from above to get to the offices. In November, the glass doors to one of the offices were broken by a resident and the doors are still not fixed. As a result the office cannot accept any cash payments and the offices and equipment are exposed to criminal activities.

Following the Kormorant’s enquiry this week, the municipality responded just before going to press by saying the water leak has been addressed and that the doors will be replaced soon.

In the mean time many customers have to travel to Brits as transactions cannot be done here.
