Nine robbers were arrested.

A gang of fleeing armed robbers were caught by security officers after a chase and shootout near Brits on Friday.
Ten armed robbers in two vehicles fled towards Brits after robbing a well-known retail store in Thabazimbi on Friday afternoon. PPS Security in Brits was alerted by police in Thabazimbi and vehicles were dispatched to look out for the fleeing robbers. Members of the Crocodile Community Protection Group joined the search.
“We spotted the robbers’ Mercedes and Toyota Quantum at the railway crossing at Klipkop, When the robbers saw the security vehicles, they opened fire. Security officers returned fire. One of the suspects managed to run away, but our officers caught the remaining nine. Two of the suspects were wounded,” said Quintin Dunn, owner of PPS Security.
Brits police arrested eight men and a woman at the scene.
“Firearms and many stolen items such as cellphones, laptops, television sets and small generators were recovered in the two vehicles,” Dunn said.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone confirmed the arrest of nine suspects.
