It is time for the Om Die Dam ultramarathon again and thousands of people are expected to visit Hartbeespoort on Saturday, 18 March, for this yearly highlight on the athletics calender.

Three thousand athletes have already entered for the 50km ultramarathon and entries for this race have closed. So far, 1000 people have entered for the 8km fun run and people can still get tickets online or on the day of the race.
The ultramarathon starts at 06:00 from the Hartbeespoort High School. Athletes will run over the Hartbeespoort Dam wall, around the dam and back over Saartjiesnek to finish at the school. The 8km race starts from the school at 06:45 to the dam wall and back. The dam wall will be closed from 06:00 to approximately 10:00.
“We ask residents to please accommodate the runners on the roads and if possible, avoid the congested areas during the times when the runners will be on the road,” says Om die Dam committee.
Additional parking has been created on land across the road from the high school, and visitors will also be able to park at the various churches in Marais Street.
