The police from the Madibeng area and the rest of North West province, together with other law enforcement agencies, arrested 282 suspects last week for contravening the COVID-19 Disaster Management Act regulations related offences.

“The arrests include 72 for failure to confine to their residences, 137 for being in public places without wearing a mask, while others were fined for contraventions such as sale and dispensing of liquor, failure to close places permitted to remain open until 20:00, and gathering for reasons other than a funeral,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena urged the community to voluntarily comply with the regulations and Covid-19 health and safety protocols to minimise the spread of infections.
