The Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) is in need of pet food. As the lockdown continues, the demand for food is becoming higher.
“Pet food is our most pressing need at the moment. Besides the animals in the shelter, we now receive daily requests for assistance with pet food from people who cannot afford it anymore,” says HAWS chairman, Linda Spencer-Coye.
More and more people are also giving up their animals for this reason. “We have more animals than before the lockdown and with the request for assistance from the public, we would appreciate all the help we can get.”
“We would like to thank all our wonderful supporters for their kind donations. The demand for food assistance for animals is high already and we fear will only get worse as time goes on. Your donations not only ensure our ability during this time to look after the dogs in our care but allow us to assist other animals in need,” she says.
She also requests employers to keep the pets of employees in mind when they provide food parcels.
Dog and cat food can be placed in the bins at Pick n Pay in Village Mall. Financial assistance can be paid to HAWS’ account: Standard Bank, account no: 033183074
