Police address poaching and illegal wildlife trade

The police’s stock theft and endangered species unit, in collaboration with other stakeholders, embarked on an awareness campaign last weekend to address the plight of endangered species such as rhino and pangolin that are at risk of extinction.

During the campaign, members of local communities were made aware of the negative impact of poaching on the environment. They were urged to preserve nature by reporting poachers to the police. The Departments of Environmental Affairs, Forestry and Fisheries, Education, North West Parks Board, Bojanala Fire and local Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) contributed to the awareness campaign.
