Police members in Hartbeespoort, Brits and Mooinooi have scooped coveted awards during the police’s provincial service excellence awards ceremony at Sun City last week.

The Brits Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences unit (FCS), Hartbeespoort police, Mooinooi police and Brits communications department all walked away with service excellence awards. The Brits FCS received the award for their remarkable work from April 2018 to March 2019 during which 25 rapists were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. “The most outstanding conviction for the unit is the eight life sentences imposed on a serial rapist whose victims were minors. The investigating officer was Detective Constable Aubrey Ndubane,” said police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde. Nkabinde herself received the Provincial Commissioners Special Award for service rendered.

Other members who received acknowledgment are Detective Constable Aubrey Ndubane (Best Specialized Unit member level 5-7), Detective Captain Gabaiphiwe Mafotsa (Best FCS Unit), Constable Montoedi (Mooinooi SAPS, 1st runner-up, Best Visible Policing level 5-7), Lieutenant Colonel Mokoena (Mooinooi SAPS, Best Visible Policing group), Constable Mapataka Mooinooi SAPS (Winner Best Visible Policing member level 5-7), Detective Constable Boitumelo Rakabe, Brits FCS (1st runner-up, Best FCS member level 5-7) and Aliza Els (Best Administration Clerk).
