Police members thwarted armed robbers at Damdoryn Crossing early on Wednesday morning, preventing them from executing a robbery at the shopping centre.

Members of the Hartbeespoort police’s Crime Prevention Unit received information about a suspicious vehicle at the location around 08:00. Members of the Hartbeespoort K9 unit joined the members and rushed to the scene. The vehicle was spotted, and members of the Brits police’s Crime Prevention Unit and Operational Command Centre joined the Hartbeespoort team, closing off exits.
The vehicle with three suspects was approached and searched. Police found them in possession of two presumed unlicenced firearms and extra number plates in the vehicle. The three suspects were arrested.
It is suspected that the suspects were preparing to rob one of the businesses in the centre. The investigation is ongoing.
