North West premier Job Mokgoro lashed out this week about the failing municipalities in North West, of which Madibeng is one, accusing parliament’s ad hoc committee on the section 100 intervention of inciting violence.

This follows after community members accused the North West government of failing to ensure service provision in municipalities.
Residents in Madibeng and Mahikeng expressed their dissatisfaction over the lack of sustainable water supply, lack of job opportunities, and corruption in municipalities.
The provincial government and administrators of municipalities gave feedback during a meeting with the committee on Monday. According to their reports, most municipalities were not functional.
It was reported that municipalities such as Madibeng experience infighting that leads to community protests and resistance to provincial interventions and the removal of administrators.
