One of the suspects who gang-raped a woman after their car overturned when they hit rocks on the N4 near Brits, was finally caught in Musina last week.

The long arm of the law caught up with Chris Sithole who is one of the Top 50 Most Wanted Suspects in the province. Sithole who also calls himself Leon Nkomo, was arrested by the police in Musina, Limpopo and handed over to the North West Provincial Tracking Team on Tuesday, 13 September 2022. In one of the cases, Sithole allegedly raped a woman, together with two others after the woman and her husband’s car overturned when they drove over rocks on the N4 highway near Bokfontein. Police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, said the vehicle’s tyre had burst and the husband reduced speed to stop but the car overturned.

“The couple was rescued out of the vehicle by three males who then took turns raping the woman,” he said.

“Following investigations in this case and others, Sithole was also linked with housebreaking in February 2021 in Brits. According to information, the occupant of the house was woken up by an activated alarm. On investigation, he realised that the intruder had gained entrance into the house and stolen clothes and various electrical appliances worth R20 500.
Upon appearance before the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 September 2022, the accused was remanded in custody..
