Motorists are urged to not keep valuables in their vehicles when they go shopping.

Thieves are on the prowl and a number of thefts out of cars have been reported the past week.

A laptop, hard drive and cellphones were stolen from a vehicle at the Island Mall last Monday. On Wednesday a car radio and speakers were stolen from a car in Tielman Street in Schoemansville, and trailer wheels were stolen from a vehicle at the Dreiers Centre in Melodie on the same day.

On Friday afternoon a Volkswagen Polo was stolen from church premises in Schoemansville.

“We ask motorists not leave valuables in their cars. It is an open invitation to thieves. Park vehicles preferably where security or car guards are in attendance.”
