The Om die Dam race kicks off for both the 50 km ultra marathon and the 21 km half marathon at 06:00 from the Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort on the R513.

The following roads will be closed with no access:

  • Scott Street from Karlson Crescent through the dam wall up to the Damdoryn crossing from 04:00 to 13:00.
  • The R513 from Damdoryn to the Hartbeespoort Holiday Resort from 03:00 to 13:00. Note no access will be granted from Damdoryn from 03:00.
The Pelindaba Road (R104) from the Lanseria Road to the T-junction at the N4 highway from 06:30 to 10:30
People traveling from Hartbeespoort via the R511 and the R512 need to ensure that they travel along the eastern side of the dam over Saartjies Neck and Zilkaats Neck, along the R511 towards Brits.
Traffic officials from the Madibeng municipality, as well as provincial traffic officers will be directing traffic at all strategic points during the event.
There is no access to the venue from the western side of the dam via Kommando Neck and Damdoryn, as these roads will be closed. From the R511 and R513 intersections, cars will be directed by traffic marshals towards the parking areas.
The North West police’s mounted unit will also be on patrol near the venue to assist with traffic and to keep an eye on the race and visitors’ vehicles. Community policing forum members will also be deployed all along the route.
