Rotary Club induction of new President
The Rotary Club of Hartbeespoort-Brits held the induction of its new president for the year 2024/2025 at the Villa Paradiso venue in Hartbeespoort. Long-standing Rotarian Roy Tolfts will take the helm as the newly-inducted president from Past President Glenn Ross whose year showcased an impressive list of achievements helping schools, the youth, the less fortunate and the environment.
The Rotary Club is a global organisation that sees prominent members of society help with charities and communal upliftment with many achievements, most recently them being instrumental with the near complete eradication of Polio from planet Earth.
The Brits-Hartbeespoort Chapter of Rotary Club was first chartered in 1960 making it one of the most established chapters in South Africa. The newly inducted President Roy Tolfts has been a member for 20 years and looks to continue the good work of his predecessors.
Beyond the induction of President Roy, the ceremony also saw many awards and recognitions. Frank Seewald and Hans Schwebel were given Long Service Awards. At the same time, Grant Adam was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his good work hosting international Rotarians during their trip around the country. Alice Meyer was given a gift for her dedication towards the Rotary Club in various capacities and duties throughout the year.
The prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Recognition was given to Jack Lester for his work helping many of the Rotary fundraising events and functions at the Aerial Cableway, and Mike and Dianne Cronje from In His Honour Foundation – a facility that looks after abused children.
For their service and dedication to the club over the many years, Debbie and Glenn Ross were made Honorary Members as they leave the Hartbeespoort area to be closer to family in Johannesburg.
