A family was held at gunpoint and threatened with death during an armed house robbery in Schoemansville on Saturday.
“The father was woken up shortly after 04:00 by the screams of his wife and children in another room. When the father came out of the room to investigate, he encountered a man on the stairs, who ordered him to go back or he would be shot” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
“There were two robbers, and after grabbing cellphones and other items, they fled out of the house.”
On Monday, members of the Hartbeespoort police’s Crime prevention unit and Brits Cluster Crime intelligence, assisted by Alpha Security, worked throughout the night to trace and arrest three suspects after they were found in possession of suspected stolen property, some of it linked to the house robbery.
The three suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen property.
Amongst the recovered items were an Apple iPad mini, two cellphones, binoculars and clothing.
The police are investigating a house robbery case.
