Two armed robbers charged into a scrapyard in Hartbeespoort on Thursday morning, held the owner at gunpoint and fled with a bag of cash.

Mariana du Plessis was busy with clients in her office around 10:36 at the Cash for Scrap scrap yard on the R511 when a man with a purple mask entered her office. “I asked him to leave the office as we do not allow people to walk into the office. He left but the next moment came back in with a firearm in his hand. He grabbed me and put his hand over my mouth, reaching under the desk to grab the money bag,” she told Kormorant.
The robber left the office and Mariana screamed. Her husband, Pieter, and an employee came running but was warned by the robber’s accomplice to keep away as they had firearms. “The two then ran to a black Volkswagen Polo with a driver that was parked outside. They sped away,” she said.
The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
