Four shoplifters were caught on Monday after an alert car guard and security officer followed the getaway vehicle to a local fuel station.

Three men and a woman with a baby allegedly stole clothes and shoes from a clothing store in Village Mall. “Aequitas Security was alerted and a watchful car guard had spotted the shoplifters speeding away. The security guard and car guard followed the vehicle to a fuel station where they were apprehended. They were handed over to the police,” said Romano van der Spuy, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.

“Thank you to the alert car guards at Village Mall and the security service that responded so quickly.”
