Police suspected that the same car thieves who attempted to steal a vehicle at Village Mall on Sunday, stole a vehicle about 20 minutes later at an animal park on the Lanseria Road.
“According to footage at both crime scenes, a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer was spotted. At around 13:30 the thieves attempted to steal a Toyota Hilux at Village Mall. They destroyed the ignition and door lock but could not take the vehicle. However, about 20 minute later, a Ford Ranger was stolen at the animal park and it is suspected the same Chevrolet Trailblazer was involved,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairperson of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.
“The police also suspect that another vehicle’s number plates were used. The investigation continues.”
