House robbers invaded three homes in Hartbeespoort last weekend, holding residents at gunpoint and fleeing with victims’ belongings.

“A woman was overpowered by two robbers in her home in Madeleine Street in Ifafi on Friday afternoon. They threatened her and demanded cash which she did not have. They fled with a television set,” said Romano van der Spuy, chairman of the Hartbeespoort community policing forum.

The same night a robber invaded a home on a smallholding in Broederstroom and held two people at gunpoint.

He demanded cash but the victims had none and he fled with cellphones and chargers.

“On Saturday morning around 04:00, two armed suspects broke into a house in Strydom Street in Schoemansville. The homeowner woke up and encountered the robbers with his television set. He shouted at them to put it down. One of the robbers pointed a firearm at him and both fled,” Van der Spuy said.

“We urge residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious people or activities to the police.”
