Three police women in the Madibeng district were rewarded during the police’s National Police Day celebrations last week.

During the event with the theme “The Role of Women in Policing” police women in North West who performed exceptionally received awards for their achievements.
Lt Col Mampai Elizabeth Lelaka of the Mmakau police, and retired Warrant Officer Hannelie Marks of Mothutlung both received special recognition awards for Best Initiative for improving Station Environment, Displaying Creativity and Innovation.
Snr administration Clerk Nono Molefe of the Bethanie police received the award for Best Female Support Services Member/Commander.
The events were supported by the MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari.

The MEC said more women are changing the mindset as they fight not only inequality, but also crime. “We can do more together and together we must fight gender-based violence. We salute women in blue;” he said.
