Following a spate of harrowing experiences by motorists on the R511 with corrupt traffic officials and bogus cops, the Tshwane Metro Police in conjunction with the Erasmia police and SDS Security, embarked on an awareness and road safety campaign on the R511 on Friday.

Metro police and police on the R511 to create awareness of bogus cops activities

The campaign was to inform motorists and the general public about road safety tips and encourage them to be very vigilant while behind the wheel. In the past few months, the local police have seen an increase in robberies along R511 road. We also encourage members of the public and motorists to avoid picking up hitchhikers as it might put them at high risk of becoming victims of crime,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto.

Motorists are advised to contact the TMPD on the following numbers if they are pulled off along the R511 by suspicious ‘officers’ 012 370 1777/1074/75.
