Two caught with stolen cars

Two alleged car thieves appeared in the Brits Magistrates’ Court for possession of stolen vehicles after they were caught in Mothutlung near Brits.

Segopotso Mogashoa (41) and Peter Mmotane (42) were arrested after an investigation by members of the Brits Trio Crimes Task Team, Pretoria West Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit (VCIU) and Mothutlung detectives.

“According to information available at this stage, the police acted on information received regarding suspects who were in possession of vehicles that were stolen in Pretoria during September. On the day of the arrest, the police were observing a house in Mothutlung when a charcoal Kia Rio with two occupants arrived and parked outside the house. They entered the yard where a white Toyota Quantum was parked. The two suspects, who were allegedly in possession of number plates, went to the back of the house and were busy removing the number plates from the Quantum when they were confronted by police. They could not account for the two vehicles found on the premises and police arrested them,” said police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde.

It was established that the Quantum was allegedly stolen in Sunnyside and the Kia Rio in Pretoria central.
