Police in Brits have launched a manhunt after two women were shot and killed in separate incidents in Oukasie near Brits on Wednesday. Five more people, including a 12-year-old child, were wounded.
The first incident took place at 12:45 when armed robbers shot and killed 33-year-old Neo Mnisi, at a shop in Oukasie, during an alleged robbery. The robbers fled and community members rushed her to the hospital where she was declared dead.

On Wednesday evening 30-year-old Lebogang Mapande was killed and five others wounded after unknown suspects opened fire on a group of community members who were on their way to attend a meeting at the Oukasie community hall. One of the wounded is a 12-year-old child.

According to police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, the victims’ ages ranged from 12 to 46: “Four females and one male were injured. The motive for the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made.”
