Three wanted house robbers were arrested in Ten Rooms on Friday after members of the Hartbeespoort police’s crime prevention unit worked around the clock to trace and apprehend the suspects.
Tashera Mashange (44), a Zimbabwean citizen, and two Mozambican citizens, Manyawa Nyerai (39) and Oupa Mathe (44) were arrested in the early hours on Friday after police members followed up on information and staked out the area until they traced the three men.
“Suspected stolen items were found in their possession, which included cellular phones, a plasma television set, a welding machine, two car batteries, a travelling bag and solar panels. The suspects could not give account of the items in their possession. Preliminary investigation conducted by the police revealed that the three suspects are possibly linked with house robberies and burglaries in the Rietfontein area,” said police spokesperson, Maria Nkabinde.
The police in Hartbeespoort are urging members of the community, who were victims of housebreaking and robberies, to come forward in order to identify their stolen property. Proof of ownership is required.
