Wild leopard relocated to safety

A wild leopard that was unwanted on a farm in North West, was successfully captured and spent the last month at the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre in De Wildt while preparations were made for a new home. She was finally relocated on Tuesday.

The female leopard, approximately two years old, was removed from a livestock farm in June and spent the past month in an enclosure at the cheetah centre until the North West nature conservation department had identified a new location for her release.

The department on Tuesday darted and collared the beautiful animal at the cheetah centre in De Wildt for her relocation to a nature reserve in Gauteng. She will be kept in an enclosure for a while before being released onto the reserve.
