The ticket was bought with a wager of R150 via the quick-pick selection and is the literal key to the second highest jackpot for the national lottery.
The National Lottery team called it when they said someone’s Valentine’s week just got a whole lot sweeter – this after a winning ticket for the R167-million Powerball jackpot was bought in Ballito for as little as R150.
But the prize has remained unclaimed since the draw on February 11.
The ticket was bought with a wager of R150 via the quick-pick selection and is the literal key to the second highest jackpot for the national lottery.
“To make things even sweeter, one lucky winner won the second division pay-out of R914,445.50, which is the second highest ever single win for this division,” said Ithuba’s CEO, Charmaine Mabuza, who runs the national lottery.
Ithuba has urged lotto players to check their tickets and approach their nearest regional office to claim their winnings – a team of financial advisors and psychologists are also available to offer financial advice and trauma counselling at no cost to the winners.
Mabuza extended congratulations to the first big jackpot winner of the year.
“It is indeed encouraging to see people’s dreams come true. We cannot wait to welcome the latest winner into our millionaire’s circle.”
