Woman (23) allegedly stabs boyfriend to death in Trichardt

Police in Mpumalanga are investigating a case of murder after an argument between a couple allegedly got violent.

Police confiscated the knife they believe was used to stab a man to death in Trichardt on Sunday night.

A woman (23) was arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend (30) to death in Trichardt, Mpumalanga, at about 22:30 on Sunday night.

According to a media statement by the provincial police commissioner in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the couple had an argument that spiralled into a fight.

The neighbours had apparently tried to intervene but to no avail. The fight ended with the man being stabbed to death.

The police and paramedics were called to the scene and the victim was certified dead.

The police opened a murder case and arrested the suspect who is expected to appear at the Secunda Magistrate’s Court soon for murder.

Manamela condemned the incident and urged the public to make use of social services whenever they come across some challenges in their relationships rather than trying to resolve the issues through violence.

“Violence has never resolved any problem. It will lead to undesired consequences. We can never condone violence as a solution to any challenge.

“Domestic violence continues to take lives of many in our society and we need to join hands to fight the scourge.

“The suspect has since been arrested and we hope that the law will take its course,” said Manamela.
