Woman mauled by Bengal tiger near Brits

A woman sustained serious injuries when she was mauled by a Bengal tiger on a farm near Brits on Wednesday.

“According to information, the woman was sitting next to a Bengal tiger’s cage when he grabbed her foot through the fence,” said Leandre Spies, spokesperson for the Hartbeespoort Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). “The woman sustained serious injuries to her foot and leg. She was stabilised on the scene by our paramedics and was then flown by emergency medical helicopter to a hospital in Johannesburg,” she said.
