Woman rescued from mountain

A woman had to be rescued by members of rescue teams after she fell and sustained injuries in the mountain in Hekpoort on Wednesday.

According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 911, they received a call on Wednesday morning that a woman had fallen and injured her legs.

A team of rescuers of Netcare 911, Off-Road Rescue, Mountain Search and Rescue, Mogale Fire and Rescue, the SAPS Search and Rescue, as well as staff from a nearby resort, went up the mountain to find the injured woman on the walking trail. “The patient was assessed on scene and found to have sustained moderate injuries. She was secured on a specialised stretcher and stabilised by an emergency Care practitioner before she was carried to an awaiting ambulance, some distance from the scene.”
