The Young Expendables Football Club was crowned the champions at the Harties Sports Development soccer tournament in Schaumburg last Sunday.
The team. with players as young as 14, won their first semi final match 4-3 on penalties after an 80 minutes goalless draw against Young Masters FC from Mothotlung.
The final match was a Schaumburg derby between Schaumburg United FC and Young Expendables FC which also ended in a goalless draw
Young Expendables FC scored 4 penalties against the 3 scored from Schaumburg United FC. Young Expendables FC walked away with a trophy, gold medals and R1500.00 in cash while the runners up Schaumburg United FC walked away with silver medals and R500.00 in cash
The hero of the day was Young Expendables FC goalkeeper Thato Phiri who saved two penalties from each match, winning his club the first price.
