Name of Applicant: Pacific Eagle Properties 84 (Pty) Ltd intends to submit a Water Use License Application (WULA) to the Department of Water and Sanitation for the License of phase 1 to 4 of the Groundwater Abstraction, at Property: Portion 78 of the Farm Broederstroom 481 JQ.

Description:(Project overview) Sewerage: Conservancy Tanks with Capacity 7m3/annum. Water Supply: Groundwater abstraction- 4008 m3/a (4 x 1 008 000 Litres per annum) Boreholes = using 4x BHs Depth (BH1-117m, BH2-130M , BH3-105M, BH4-122m- 6m3/a water storage facility, the project application is for irrigation of grapes and other crops

The following section 21 Water Uses will be applied for in form of National Water Act (Act No. 36 of 1998)

  • Section 21 (a) Taking water from a water resource – Groundwater abstraction – 4 032 000 Litres/a (4008m3);
  • Section 21 (b) Storing Water – 60m3? For irrigation (this is more like a domestic use capacity) Section 21 (g) Disposing of waste in a manner which may detrimentally impact on a water resource – Operation of a wastewater treatment system (Conservancy tank (Sewer system currently used) –no wetland, identified within 500m radius)

The WULA requires that a public participation process be undertaken in line with the requirements of the REGULATIONS REGARDING THE PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WATER USE LICENSE APPLICATIONS AND APPEALS – NO. R. 267 OF 24 March 2017, as promulgated under the NATIONAL WATER ACT, 1998. The commenting period will be open for 30 days from 10th January 2026 to 10th March 2026.
