Madibeng Municipality said it was disturbed by recent reports that individuals “attached” to the municipality have been soliciting money from contractors and businesses, using the municipal manager’s name.

“This unethical conduct was reported to the Office of the Municipal Manager, Quiet Kgatla, by some of the contractors who were approached by the individuals. The Municipal Manager has not mandated anyone to raise funds or solicit any money on his behalf. We wish to appeal to any contractor or businessperson not to accede to any demand made by anyone using the municipal manager’s name. This is a disreputable act which has the potential to harm the name of the Municipal Manager and the brand of the Municipality as a government institution,” the municipality said in a statement.
“We wish to advise contractors and business people to continue reporting such acts. We cannot afford to have such undesirable reports linked to us as we are hard at work focusing on service delivery, good governance and continuous improvement in audit outcomes,” Kgatla said.
