Proudly Harties – cleaning up Hartbeespoort

The non-profit company, Proudly Harties, which was established last year to create a safer, cleaner and functional Hartbeespoort for its residents and visitors, has been hard at work to repair and beautify the town.
Proudly Harties was founded following the establishment of the very successful Proudly Madibeng project in Brits. Many Hartbeespoort businesses have pledged their support and have become valuable partners in restoring Hartbeespoort to its former glory.
“Proudly Harties is a community initiative bringing people together with the aim of improving Hartbeespoort,” said Romano van der Spuy of Proudly Harties. Their slogan is ‘To improve the quality of life for Hartbeespoort residents and tourists, one clean-up and repair at a time’.
The company has been focusing on public spaces, roads and unsightly areas. Through stakeholder partnerships and businesses’ support, the team has so far successfully completed a number of projects:
The Hartbeespoort cemetery was cleaned, the entrance palissades painted and some landscaping was done to improve aesthetics.
The municipal clinic in Schoemansville received a facelift with fresh coats of paint, garden maintenance and a new security cabin.
The main road project from Saartjiesnek to the dam wall included patching potholes at the high school, as well as on the western side of the dam wall.
The road leading to Village Mall is currently undergoing a transformation with prescribed markings and clean-up of the roadsides.
Another project underway is the clean-up and repair of Boem Crescent from Ifafi to Meerhof.
“Proudly Harties is growing with more residents and businesses joining us to improve our beautiful town. Without our sponsors, it would not be possible. We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the donations and our local businesses’ involvement.”
Businesses such as Dreiers, Pick ’n Pay, Village Mall, Mica, The Aloe Farm, Jovaras Ventures and others have been contributing on an ongoing basis.
“We invite residents to join the venture by donating funds, labour or materials to help us keep our town beautiful,” Van der Spuy said.
