The Hartbeespoort Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) will receive R56 000 from the Bakwena N1N4 Toll Concession following Bakwena’s annual golf day to raise funds for charities.
” The annual Charity Golf Day was a resounding success, raising R197 400 to support three charities serving communities along the N1N4 route. The event, held at the Centurion Country Club on Wednesday, 8 October, drew a full field of 124 players (31 four-balls) who united for a worthy cause,” said Bakwena spokesperson Charmaine van Wyk.
This year’s amount brings Bakwena’s total raised for local charities through all the golf days to over R2.7 million.
“Our annual charity golf day is a cornerstone of our community engagement, enabling us to provide much-needed support to non-profit organisations that make a tangible difference along the N1N4 route,” said Solomon Kganyago, Chief Operating Officer for Bakwena.
HAWS expressed its gratitude this week, saying that the donation comes at a critical time as they prepare for the December influx of animals. “We are extremely grateful for Bakwena. We don’t get any government funding, and it is organisations like Bakwena that enable us to do the work we do,” said Ilka van der Merwe of HAWS. “This will help us immensely, and we will be inviting Bakwena in the new year to come and see for themselves how much their donation has done. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
