For the second year in a row, Applied Sport Science has achieved distinction as the top-performing facility in Africa during Technogym’s annual “Let’s Move For a Better World” campaign. Among nearly 2,000 participating facilities worldwide, Applied Sport Science emerged within the top 8%, demonstrating its dedication to promoting physical activity and wellness.
Applied Sport Science coordinated its campaign efforts from The Studio, housed within the Athlete Development Centre at the Little Paris complex in Hartbeespoortdam. The event attracted a diverse array of participants—from retirees and casual gym-goers utilizing SMART training programs to recreational athletes and elite sportspersons training for upcoming events, and some training for the World Championships in their respective sports.
The “Let’s Move For a Better World” campaign seeks to inspire individuals to engage in increased physical activity. Participants accrue “moves” through various forms of exercise, such as running, walking, strength training, cycling, or rowing. These activities are tracked via the campaign’s app or compatible wearable devices.
Underpinning the campaign is the belief that health and wellness are communal responsibilities. Increased physical activity benefits not only individuals but also extends to families, communities, and the broader healthcare system, ultimately reducing healthcare costs.
Reflecting on the event, Yvonne Prinsloo, a director at the facility, expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation: “It was truly inspiring to see such a wide range of people come together and put in the effort.” She also emphasized the importance of early preparation for next year’s campaign, saying, “We must start now to ensure our clients are primed and ready. We look forward to welcoming even more participants!”
