Community cleans up snares
The Broederstroom community removed more than 100 snares in the area during the last few months. “We have noticed a dramatic decline of wildlife in the area over the last year. The community got involved and about 20 volunteers started patrolling the area. We found more than 60 snares on two consecutive Sundays. Kudu, Hartebeest, Warthog and Jacal carcases were trapped in the snares”, said Martin Lunderstedt. “We are willing to start patrolling in other areas in Hartbeespoort on a voluntary basis on Sunday mornings.” Martin can be contacted on 082 463 5642.
