In loving memory of Martin Hinton-McDonald
Well-known Hartbeespoort resident Martin Hinton-McDonald passed away on 2 June 2025.
“Beloved husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and dear friend, Martin peacefully left his earthly body, completing his beautiful life of 65 years. Being trapped in his body for the past three years, we are certain he is now running joyous victory laps, cheered on by our love and angel song,” his daughter, Melanie, wrote on Facebook.
“Though the Martin-shaped space in our hearts and lives will always ache, we invite you to join us in keeping his spirit alive with the precious memories we each have of him —so unique to his different ages, eras, endeavours and relationships.”
“To his wife Heidi, he was a devoted and loving husband. To his children, Melanie and Kyle, an adventurous and gentle dad. To his extended family, blood didn’t limit his love and care. Martin celebrated his able body daily, running with gusto until he no longer could. “He was especially proud of completing his 100th Parkrun in 2019. Over the years he has been a keen windsurfer, cyclist, sailor, radio-ham, tech-whiz “Gizmo”, our go-to handyman, and so much more.”
A memorial service for Martin will be held on Wednesday, 11 June, 14:00 at Heartlands Church (old Dreiers Center).
