Kickboxers in Battle of the East
Kickboxers of the Red Dragon Kickboxing Club recently participated in the Battle of the East and the fighters excelled at the challenge. Twenty fighters competed and won 34 medals including, 18 gold, 11, silver and 5 bronze. Red Dragon recently sent three students to the Junior World Championship in Hungary. Corlea Grobler acted as judge and referee, making her the youngest fighter in this position ever. WJ Pio lost to the world champion with a point. Stefan Korf returned with a third place. These two fighters, aged 7 and 8, are ranked in the top 10 in die world in their categories.
The Red Dragon stars are Declan Mac Gregor (3 gold), Albert Jacobs (1 silver), Waytt Oliver (2 silver), Corlea Grobler (Judge/Referee), Stefan Korf (2 gold), Mian Duvenhage (2 gold, 1 silver), Ciaran Toughey, Jan-Louise Potgieter (2 gold, 1silver), Lorenzo Borrageiro (1 gold, 1 silver), Jeandre Mulder (2 gold), Levi Venter (1 silver, 2 bronze), Rovaun Harrington (3 gold), Arlo Venter (2 silver), Evan van Tonder (3 gold), Liam de Villiers (1 bronze), Roci Borrageiro (1 silver), Sion Leschinsky, Tristan Roos (2 gold, 1 bronze), Ruan Strauss (2 gold), Xavier Korf and WJ Pio (bronze).
At the back are head coach and owner of the club Shihan Bernie van der Mescht with coaches Tobias de Villiers, Ruan Strauss, Francois Roos, Hennie Pio and Louis Potgieter.
