MCS shines at SACOPA
The Mountain Cambridge School (MCS) continues to assert itself as a leader in the performing arts, following an exceptional performance at the 2024 South African Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA). Competing alongside some of the nation’s best, the school’s learners and teams achieved outstanding results, earning a total of 410 medals.
The school’s High School Elite Team took home the prestigious Senior Acting Trophy, being recognized as the best acting group of the competition. The Super Elite Team also made history by delivering the largest Broadway-style production ever seen at SACOPA. Both achievements showcase the talent and dedication nurtured at MCS, further establishing the school as a powerhouse in the performing arts scene.
MCS was additionally honoured by having its High School Elite Team selected to perform in the highly exclusive SACOPA Showcase, which features only the finest performances. Two of the school’s dancers, Isabella da Silva and Carmi Landsberg, also performed in the Showcase. Isabella displayed her prowess in two Latin dance pieces, while Carmi captivated audiences with her ballet performance.
In addition to the individual and team accomplishments, MCS teams have been selected to represent South Africa at the international SACOPA competition in Los Angeles. Among those chosen are the MCS Foundation Elite Team, Primary School Elite Team, High School Elite Team, and Super Elite Team. Individually, Isabella da Silva, Carmi Landsberg, and Minri Coetzee have also been named as part of Team South Africa.
