MCS top matric achievers
The Mountain Cambridge School is extremely proud of its 2024 matric class students who excelled in the matric examinations.

Ashleigh Maphasha expected her four distinctions. “I achieved the symbols I was aiming for,” she says. “I studied real hard. However, I maintained my social life and still took part in activities I enjoy but kept my academics and my end-goal a priority throughout the year.” Ashleigh will start her medicine studies this year. “Hopefully in the very far future, I will be a cardiothoracic surgeon.”

The Mountain Cambridge School head boy, Wian Lourens, boasts four distinctions. “I am really satisfied with my results. I studied hard but my duties as the head boy at the school also kept me busy. I made sure to stay fit to help me with my energy levels and concentration,” Wian says. “I am not sure yet what my future career looks like, but I am going in the direction of engineering with the hope of owning a business one day.” Wian will be studying mechanical engineering at the University of Pretoria this year.

Thato Motsepe received two distinctions and is satisfied with her results. “My results are better than what I had expected. I am very happy.” It was not all hard work and no play, Thato played in the school’s basketball team and was active in the Eco Club. “I also participated in Olympiads.” She is still weighing her options about where she will be studying. :I’m thinking about going into law or anything to do with sociology and international relations. I’ll most likely be studying at The University of Pretoria but I’m still open to other options. I’ll be pursuing BsocSci Industrial sociology and labour studies.”
