Proposed resort in Rietfontein
The development of a tourist resort with accommodation and outdoor activities is planned at the foot of the Magaliesberg in the Rietfontein area in Hartbeespoort.

The site of the proposed resort on Van der Hoff Road.
The proposed resort to be developed by TPA Logistics on approximately 7ha, situated on Van der Hoff Road, will include a lodge, chalets, hiking trails and outdoor adventure activities. TPA Logistics has appointed Lushika Services to conduct the basic assessment process.
A notice of application for environmental authorisation for the proposed development was published last week and stakeholders are invited to participate and submit comments on the proposed development.
According to the Draft Basic Assessment Report (DBAR), TPA Logistics plans to create a premier tourism and leisure destination and to enhance infrastructure and community development in the surrounding area while ensuring sustainable land use and minimising environmental impact.
It is estimated that about 1ha of the total 6.6930ha will be utilised for the development of the resort while the rest of the area will remain in its natural state.
Activities during the development include clearing and grading of the site, where vegetation will be removed to create a suitable construction surface. The resort will feature landscaped areas including gardens, walkways and recreational spaces. Construction will include chalets, swimming pool, clubhouse and lapa for leisure activities.
Water supply will be installed by connecting to existing municipal services and/or boreholes.
A public open day meeting will be held on site on 9 April 2025 from 09:00 to 15:00.
