A talk on the book Birds of the Magaliesberg Biosphere takes place this Saturday, 8 March, at Harties Lodge in Meerhof.

John Wesson, chairman of the northern region for the Wildlife and Environment Society (WESSA) and chairman of Birdlife Harties, speaks from a wealth of knowledge of the natural environment and decades in nature conservation.
The latest updated version 5 of Birds of the Magaliesberg Biosphere was released near the end of 2024.
This free e-book written by John Wesson and Renier Balt is a great tool for bird-loving residents, conservationists and tourists alike.
A product of WESSA Northern Areas, Rotary Club of Brits Hartbeespoort and Birdlife Harties, the first version was written by John Wesson in 2010 as a Rotary centenary project as part of the Rotary Preserve Planet Earth programme. The e-book has recently been endorsed by BirdLife South Africa.
Birds of the Magaliesberg Biosphere features an introduction by Vincent Carruthers, detailed hot spot sites, write-ups and photo pages, detailed accounts of habitat types and seven sub-areas in the region with detailed accounts of where to look for birds as well as the most up-to-date lists of birds based on the latest SABAP2 data.
The talk starts at 10:00. Cost is R100 per person and includes tea and coffee. Light meals will be available at your own cost. Book at glenda@machbookings.co.za or WhatsApp 083 992 2925.
